Erik Kaiel

De Libanees-Amerikaan Erik Kaiel werd geboren in Innsbruck, Oostenrijk. Hij groeide op in Oregon, studeerde in Canada en Massachusetts, V.S. Hij ontving zijn Masters van het Universiteit van New York en woonde bijna tien jaar in Brooklyn (N.Y.) voordat hij naar Nederland verhuisde. Kaiel werkte met verschillende Amerkaanse choreografen in New York. Hij heeft werk gepresenteerd op podia in Europa en Noord-Amerika, en heeft voorstellingen gegeven op onverwachte locaties zoals metrostations, beeldentuinen en verlaten pakhuizen.
In oktober 2009 ontving Kaiel de Prijs van de Nederlands Dansdagen. Hij ontving onlangs de hoofdprijs van Duitslands prestigieus No Ballet choreografiewedstrijd.

Behalve zijn werk voor het theater, maakte hij vorig jaar locatie projecten met plaatselijk dansers in een fort in Utrecht, een oude bioscoop in Benin, Afrika, en in de straten van Saint Louis, Senegal.
